From February 12 to 15, work was carried out to assess 28 potential producers in the Cahora Bassa and Marara Districts who could benefit from support from the Market-Oriented Production Project in the Zambezi Valley (PROMEZA).
The activity was carried out by a multi-sectoral team made up of technicians from the Zambezi Agency, HUB and the Cahora Bassa and Marara District Economic Activities Services.
In Cahora Bassa, 17 producers were visited, ten of them farmers and seven poultry producers. At the Boroma Administrative Post in Marara, the team worked with 11 producers, including seven farmers and four poultry producers.
PROMEZA, financed by Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa in coordination with the Zambezi Agency, aims to ensure the commercial production and regular availability of agricultural products in the region, contributing to the reduction of imports by improving the quality and quality of local production.
The project is valued at around 120 million meticais and plans to finance initiatives ranging from 500,000 to 5 million meticais in the areas of vegetable, legume and fruit production and small animal husbandry in the provinces of Tete (Cahora Bassa and Marara) and Manica (Vanduzi).
