Public consignments for the Organic Production Pilot Program took place yesterday at the Zambezi Agency.
The project is valued at around 40 million meticais, divided into: 20 million in investments by the Government of Mozambique through the Zambezi Agency and the same amount by Bioagri, a private company dedicated to producing technological solutions based on organic synthesis.
The aim is to offer producers an ecological production option that preserves biodiversity, improves the soil and ensures safe and healthy products on the market, through the use of organic solutions with the same level of efficiency as chemical products.
According to the Director of Technical and Financial Assistance Services at the Zambezi Agency (Project Director), Nelson Rodrigues António, the project will “guarantee greater income for producers and at relatively low costs”.

The Project Director at the Zambezi Agency said that, at this stage of the project, demonstration fields will be set up in ten (10) districts in the provinces of Tete, Manica and Sofala involving 20 producer families.
Speaking on the occasion, Jacinta Mtaia, Director of the Tete Provincial Services for Economic Activities, said that the initiative could help to save producers costs.
“Our producers will now have the vision of producing without harming the environment,” she said. The event was attended by representatives of the Zambezi Agency, the Provincial Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries, the Provincial Services for Economic Activities, Kimitec, Bioagri SA, the Center for Research and Technology Transfer (CITT), the World Food Program (WFP), Solidarity, producers and others.
