The Zambezi Valley Development Agency (ADVZ) recently held consultations at central government level with various state institutions as part of the drafting of the Central Region Development Strategy (Pro-Zambeze 2026–2035).

The consultations aim to gather contributions, data and technical input to ensure that Pro-Zambeze is aligned with national priorities and addresses the key development needs of Mozambique’s Central Region.

According to José Cardoso, Director of Strategic Studies and Analysis at ADVZ, the participation of central government institutions is essential to ensure the creation of a strategic, integrated and participatory framework to guide the Central Region’s development priorities over the next ten years.

The initiative involved institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries; Transport and Logistics; Mineral Resources and Energy; Economy; Planning and Development; the National Statistics Institute (INE); the Central Office for Reforms and Strategic Projects; and the Bank of Mozambique.
