The Zambezi Agency and UN-Habitat have discussed the possibility of entering into a partnership in the field of spatial planning and local socio-economic development.
This was expressed at a meeting between representatives of the two institutions held today at the Zambezi Agency headquarters (in Tete City).
The Director of the Strategic Studies and Analysis Services (SEAE), José Cardoso, explained that one of the Zambezi Agency’s mandates is to support governments in land-use planning and local socio-economic development.
“We are supporting governments to implement detailed plans,” said José Cardoso, stressing the implementation of “water and energy infrastructures that will contribute to achieving many sustainable development objectives, making villages sustainable”.
Ludovica Sodomaco, a representative of UN-Habitat, who expressed her willingness to collaborate with the Zambezi Agency, said that “the work you are doing (referring to the Zambezi Agency) is very interesting”.
“We are interested in working and creating a partnership,” said the UN-Habitat representative, referring to their willingness to provide technical support in this area.
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) dedicated to promoting socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities.
