The Director-General of the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC), Pejul Calenga, visited yesterday (29 May 2026) the honey processing facility of the Mocuba Honey Company, located in the District of Mocuba, Zambézia Province.
The visit was part of an exchange of experiences on sustainable investments for nature conservation.
During the visit, Pejul Calenga was briefed on the company’s production chain, from beekeeping to the processing and marketing of honey.
The venture involves around 350 families from the districts of Ile, Lugela, Namarroi, Mocuba and Mulevala, who produce approximately 1.3 tonnes of honey per year.
The Mocuba Honey Company has benefited from the Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship Financing (FAE) scheme, a financing mechanism of the Zambezi Valley Development Agency (ADVZ), implemented through the National Investment Bank (BNI).
It is worth noting that, since 2025, the ADVZ has been implementing, in partnership with ANAC, a honey production project in Mágoè National Park, in Tete province, with the aim of promoting nature conservation, generating income for local communities and contributing to the reduction of conflicts between humans and wildlife.
