The Governor of Manica Province, Francisca Domingos Tomas, handed over agricultural equipment and inputs in the district of Vanduzi yesterday.
The equipment and means were made available by the Zambezi Agency as part of its intervention plan for the second season of the 2023/24 agricultural campaign in this province, with the aim of reducing the impact of extreme phenomena (cyclones, droughts and floods) and their influence on production and productivity levels.
The Governor handed over six (6) motor pump kits (4, 5 and 6 inches); three (3) central pivots with an irrigation capacity of up to
30 ha each; four (4) checks to the same number of MSMEs for a total amount of 8.2 million meticais under the Financing for Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship (FAE Emergência); and agricultural input kits.
Francisca Tomás said that the equipment and means “will certainly contribute to the recovery of the 2023/24 agricultural campaign through the sowing of the second season”.
She said that the 2023/24 agricultural season has been affected by calamitous events, in particular the El Nino phenomenon, characterized by a lack of rain (in some places) or an excess (in others) which could have an impact on production levels in the first season.
The event took place on the sidelines of the Launch of the 2024/2025 Provincial Agricultural Marketing Campaign and Forum.
At the same time, there was an exhibition of agricultural and other products and services.
