The Zambezi Agency has secured around 52.3 million meticais to reinforce the second season of the 2023/24 agricultural campaign in Manica Province.
The amount is earmarked for the purchase and provision of equipment and means to guarantee food and nutritional security for the communities and strengthen the availability of products on the market.
According to José Cardoso, Director of the Strategic Studies and Analysis Services (SEAE), “these interventions will enable the establishment of 25 community and private nurseries, intensive production for the market in an area of 416.5 hectares, guaranteeing the overall production of 6.4 thousand tons of various products”.
The Director of SEAE, who was speaking yesterday at the launch of the 2024/2025 Provincial Agricultural Marketing Campaign and Forum, which took place in the Vanduzi District of Manica, led by Governor Francisca Tomas, explained that production and productivity targets for the first agricultural season were compromised by the impact of the El Niño phenomenon.
