A meeting was held yesterday at the Zambezi Agency headquarters in Tete to review the process of portfolio management of projects funded by the Catalytic Fund for Innovation and Demonstration (CIDF), an initiative of the Government of Mozambique, coordinated by the Zambezi Agency, with funding from the World Bank (WB).

The meeting brought together the World Bank representative, the interim coordinator of the FCID, the portfolio managers of the Provinces of Tete, Manica, Sofala, Zambezia, the Nacala Corridor (Nampula, Niassa and Cabo Delgado), the delegate of the Zambezi Agency for Tete province, the head of the Financial Assistance Department and some staff.

According to the General Director of the Zambezi Agency, Roberto Albino, who was speaking on the sidelines of the opening of the meeting, the objective of the meeting was to be informed about the situation of the projects financed during the first phase of the FCID, as well as to outline strategies and operational mechanisms for the new phase of the FCID.

“We hope that, at the end of this meeting, the portfolio managers are armed with tools to intensify actions that culminate in greater and better participation of small producers in the business of the anchor companies,” said Albino.

In turn, the representative of the World Bank, Francisco Campos, said to be relevant at this stage a model of resident technical assistance to effectively support small producers.
