The Governor of Zambezia, Pio Matos, today delivered five rice threshing machines and four 10 tons trucks in Nicoadala District.

The equipments were made available by the Zambezi Agency with the purpose of ensuring more rice availability in the market and income to the producers.

According to the General Director of Zambezi Agency, Roberto Albino, the initiative aims to contribute to the industrialization of rice through the introduction of technological means that reduce the time and post-harvest losses, ensuring greater availability of the product in the market.

“With this we want to ensure greater income for producers. We want greater availability of the national rice production”- said Roberto Albino underlining the challenge of reducing the import levels of this cereal.

In turn, Governor Pio Matos challenged the producers to take advantage of the opportunities made available by the Government, through the Zambezi Agency.

“The objective of this equipment is to leverage our rice processing capacity in less time” said the leader.

“We have to change our mentality, improve our way of working in order to have cheaper rice and gain time” – highlighted the Zambezia Governor.

From 2018-2023, the Zambezi Agency has already invested about 574 million meticais in the rice value chain.
