A technical delegation from the Republic of Malawi is working in Tete, between May 23rd and 24th, with the objective to collect the experience (of the Mozambican counterpart) in the implementation of the Catalytic Fund for Innovation and Demonstration (FCID).

During the two days, the Malawian mission worked in the Zambezi Agency’s facilities, where they met with the Director General, Roberto Albino and the FCID Management Committee.

According to Roberto Albino the FCID comes to meet the challenge of strengthening the capacities of the sector and ensure the integration of small producers.

“It is necessary to have a strong private sector that is available to work with small producers and micro and small enterprises” – referred the General Director, stressing “We have to strengthen the private sector, financing it”.

The Governments of Mozambique and Malawi are implementing, with the support of the World Bank Group, the Southern Africa Connectivity and Trade Project (SACCP) with the objective of stimulating the private sector activity along specific corridors in Mozambique and Malawi. During its stay in Mozambique, the Malawian mission has scheduled visits to enterprises and public and private institutions, beneficiaries of projects of the first edition of FCID in the provinces of Tete, Manica, Nampula and Niassa.
