The Zambezi Agency is investing about 12 million meticals for the construction of a police station in Tete City.
The infrastructure will be erected in the 7 de Abril Unit, in the Chingodzi Quarter, in an estimated period of 6 months.
According to José Cardoso, Director of the Services of Studies and Strategic Analyses (SEAE), at the Zambezi Agency, who spoke today, during the ceremony of laying of the first stone, this activity initiative fits in the institution’s purpose of supporting local governments in initiatives of local socio-economic development.
The Director of the EEAS recalled that the project puts into operation the memorandum with the Municipal Council of Tete City which provides for the construction of a Police Station and an Integrated Market of Fish, Vegetables and Fruits.
About the Police Post, Cardoso explained
“we believe that it will contribute to the strengthening of the security of the residents (of this area), making the City of Quininas more welcoming and attractive to live, work or visit”.
In his turn, the President of the Tete City Council, César de Carvalho, advanced that the police unit will be able to serve more than 70 thousand inhabitants of the Chingodzi neighborhood, the most populated.
César de Carvalho referred that the implantation of the Police Post comes to answer the longing of the citizens in security matters, recognizing the challenge of patrolling (in view of the number of inhabitants).
“It will help improve the quality of life of the residents in our neighborhoods,” said the mayor, stressing that “our communities want the presence of the police in the neighborhoods, not only the community police.
The Chingodzi Police Station will include the construction of an administrative block, two cells (male and female), a fence wall, and a guardhouse.
