The Zambeze Agency is providing technical and financial support to the district governments of Sussundenga and Manica in the preparation of two Detailed Plans.
According to Marcela Tamele, Head of the Physical Planning Department, the initiative aims to guide land use and occupation and promote organised, safe and resilient human settlements.
Tamele explained that, in this first phase, the work is focused on assessing the physical, environmental and socio-economic characteristics of the intervention areas, namely Munhinga and Garuso, in the districts of Sussundenga and Manica, respectively.
“We are mapping the potential that will drive territorial and socio-economic development, as well as collecting data for the preparation of the economic and financial feasibility study, the management model and the design of the detailed project plan,” said the representative of the Zambezi Agency.
The mission involves the participation of experts from the Zambezi Agency, the Provincial Directorate for Territorial Development and the Environment, and the District Planning and Infrastructure Services of the two districts (Sussundenga and Manica), as well as representatives from the beneficiary communities.
