The Zambeze Agency and the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) signed a partnership agreement yesterday in Maputo, with the aim of promoting renewable energy and encouraging investment in energy projects in Mozambique.
For José Cardoso, Director of Studies and Strategic Analysis at the Zambezi Agency, the partnership with AMER could make a significant contribution to making renewable energy the driving force behind sustainable development in the Zambezi Valley Region
“On our own, we can bring energy to a locality, but without specialist partners, that energy risks failing to fulfil its full transformative potential,” said José Cardoso, explaining that “Energy alone does not drive development – it needs to be applied, utilised and integrated into economic activities that generate wealth, employment and well-being for communities.”
It should be noted that the Zambezi Agency is establishing Integrated Photovoltaic Energy and Water Supply Systems in some districts that have benefited from support in the implementation of Detailed Plans, with the aim of making these areas more attractive.
