The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, today presided over the Central Launch Ceremony for the 2025–2026 Agricultural Campaign in Mafambisse, Dondo District, Sofala Province, an event marking the start of activities aimed at promoting agricultural production and food security in the country.

In his speech, the Head of State emphasised that agriculture represents the foundation for achieving national economic independence, as it provides a livelihood for over 70% of Mozambicans.

Daniel Chapo highlighted the government’s commitment to scaling up national food production, prioritising staple food products, strengthening the private sector’s strong and innovative leadership; greater engagement and capacity-building for young people; and the empowerment of women.

During the ceremony, the President visited an Agricultural and Fisheries Fair and inaugurated, in the village of Nhamayabue, in the district of Dondo, a Sesame Husk Removal and Processing Plant in Sofala, which, according to Chapo, represents a qualitative leap in production, processing and export, generating employment, income and added value for the country.

The 2025–2026 Agricultural Campaign has the slogan: Working the land is creating wealth for Mozambique.
