Approximately 2,000 families in the village of Guara-Guara, in the Búzi Administrative Post, Búzi District, Sofala Province, will now have access to formal, safe, well-planned settlements and social infrastructure supported by the Zambezi Agency.
The support comes in response to the negative impacts of the heavy rains and strong winds that have severely affected the Búzi District, causing loss of life and property, as explained to the press yesterday in Guara-Guara by the Director-General of the Zambezi Agency, Celso Cunha, during the ceremony to hand over irrigation equipment and agricultural inputs allocated under the MANGWANA Program.
“We have already begun drafting a Detailed Plan to enable the resettlement of communities located in high-risk areas,” said Celso Cunha, clarifying that the plan calls for the subdivision of two thousand five hundred (2,500) plots and the construction of 12 km of access roads across an area of 150 hectares.
The official also noted that “basic social infrastructure will be established to enhance the appeal of these communities, including a health clinic, a police station, an integrated water and energy supply center, and schools, with a view to fostering young people’s involvement in agribusiness.”
