The Governor of Manica Province, Francisca Domingos Tomás, handed over 72 irrigation systems comprising motor pumps, tanks and piping to an equal number of farmers in the districts of Gondola and Macate last Saturday (21 March) in the Macate District.
The equipment, valued at 43.3 million meticais, co-funded by the farmers, was provided by the MANGWANA Programme with the aim of bolstering the second season of the agricultural campaign in that province, in order to boost production and productivity.
Mangwana is being implemented in 12 districts of the provinces of Manica and Sofala by a consortium comprising the Zambeze Agency, TechnoServe, Resilience, and the Manica Province Economic Development Agency (ADEM), with funding from the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
